Healthy meal times

Healthy meal times

Our delicious hot meals are freshly prepared on site using nutritious ingredients and are carefully planned to give children the energy they need for busy days filled with exploring, learning and having fun.

More Than Just a Meal

Every breakfast, snack and lunchtime is a learning opportunity.

During mealtimes, children are encouraged to:
• Develop independence by serving themselves where appropriate, pouring drinks and helping to tidy away afterwards.
• Build confidence by making their own choices and trying new foods in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
• Learn valuable social skills such as taking turns, sharing, listening to others and using good manners.
• Develop language and communication through meaningful conversations with friends and practitioners.
• Explore different foods, flavours, colours and textures, helping them become confident and adventurous eaters.
• Learn about healthy lifestyles, including why our bodies need nutritious foods, the importance of drinking water and how to look after our teeth.

Learning Through Everyday Moments

Our practitioners sit alongside the children during mealtimes, creating a calm, family-style atmosphere where everyone eats together.
We use this time to chat about children's interests, their families, favourite foods, celebrations, cultures and everyday experiences. These conversations help develop vocabulary, confidence and communication skills while making mealtimes enjoyable and relaxed.

Encouraging Positive Relationships with Food

Every child is unique, and we understand that all children develop their eating habits at different rates.

Our approach is always positive and supportive.
We will:
• Encourage children to taste and explore new foods without pressure.
• Never force a child to eat.
• Respect when children tell us they are full.
• Celebrate every achievement, whether that's trying a new vegetable or becoming more confident using a knife and fork.
• Support children with allergies, dietary requirements, sensory preferences and cultural or religious diets.

We want children to enjoy food, feel confident at the table and develop healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.

Working Together

Parents are our partners, and we value sharing information about your child's likes, dislikes, allergies and dietary needs.

By working together, we can ensure every child feels safe, happy and confident at every mealtime.

Together, we're helping children build healthy bodies, growing minds and happy memories around food.
